Everyone goes through a dry spell every now and again, and this is true whether you are single or in a relationship. If you’re single, you might experience the problem more often as you don’t have a regular partner. But even with a partner, your relationship might be pretty sexless at times. So, what can you do?
The first thing you need to establish is why it’s happening. For most single people, the problem is simply not meeting enough new people. You need to open up your social circle and get introduced to new and interesting people. Try to meet friends of friends and don’t be afraid to introduce yourself. If you are always waiting for people to come to you, you could have a long wait. The best thing to do is initiate a relationship and begin a conversation.
You might even wish to explore your horizons even more and take a trip somewhere. Travelling will not only take your mind off the “dry spell”, it might also open up new opportunities. You never know who you might meet in another country or city.
Why not also explore taking up a new hobby? If you’re not meeting enough people, perhaps it’s because you’re stuck in the same environment every day. Having a new hobby will allow you to meet like-minded people and participate in something you enjoy in, which is also another distraction!
It could be you are meeting plenty of new people but you’re still having problems. Maybe you are not being open-minded enough about the people you date. If you make judgments about people too soon you could be missing out on a great opportunity to get to know someone you might really like. Open your mind, withhold judgment and keep your expectations low.
If you are already in a relationship, a sex drought is still quite common. You have to figure out if it’s simply a matter of life being too busy or if there is a deeper issue in your relationship. Keeping open lines of communication with your partner is essential and you should both figure out a plan to add more intimacy into your lives. Many people are quick to blame themselves or their partners for the lack of sex. Some think they aren’t attractive anymore to their partner, others think they’re bad at sex. In reality, your partner might simply be tired or stressed. Being open about it will enable you both to find a solution.
Try going on more dates together or travel somewhere new in order to reconnect. Sometimes a change of scenery can do wonders for a relationship. It can allow you both to take a break from life and recharge your batteries.
Remember, a sexual drought in a long-term relationship doesn’t need to be a bad thing and doesn’t necessarily mean something is lacking in your relationship. All relationships have rhythms and flows and you can even learn to be comfortable in the occasional sexual drought you experience. And if you feel like there is something bigger going on, don’t hesitate to seek professional help – that is what they are there for! You are more likely to solve things if you face them head-on rather than continue justifying something that you know, deep down, will not go away on its own.
Make yourself feel sexy
Sometimes the issue is self confidence. Looking and feeling good on the outside can help us feel good on the inside, which is conducive to sex. When you feel attractive and confident in yourself, you’re more like to want to have sex. Investing in new underwear, treating yourself to a mani/pedi and grooming yourself will help you feel good and also show your partner that you care. Your surroundings are also important. Put on fresh bed sheets, dim the lights, get the scented candles, and do the things that makes the environment look and feel good for you. This dry spell may end sooner than you think.
